— Which are the 4 categories of the Grants?


Fundación Ama Amoedo Grants encompass 4 categories: Artists, Art and Social Engagement, Organizations and Publications.

— Can I apply to more than one category?


Each individual, institution, or organization may apply for only 1 category of scholarships in each award category. Multiple applications within a specific category will not be accepted or considered. Artists belonging to artistic collectives that apply for the Grants may not apply independently to another category.

— Can I correct and/or add additional information to my application once I have submitted the form?


Changes to projects and applications once the application has been submitted will not be considered. In case you have made a mistake while filling out the form, please contact info@fundacionamaamoedo.org notifying the specific problem.

— Is the call accessible and is it possible to apply by other means?

— Do I need to attach a specific budget detail on how I would allocate the funds at the time of application?


A clear and precise description of how the funds will be used is required in the application. If you are awarded the Grant, you will be required to complete a follow-up questionnaire six months and two reports one year and two years, respectively, after receiving the Grant.

— Who can apply to the Artists Grant?


Fundación Ama Amoedo Artists Grants are intended for artists from Latin America, the Caribbean and the Diaspora, either by nationality and/or cultural heritage, whose practices are focused on the visual arts. Individuals over 18 years of age or artistic collectives may apply with a single research or artistic creation proposal, such as: production of work and/or associated costs, specific exhibition projects that, in the first instance, are not associated with commercial spaces, development of a project, archiving and preservation of their own work, among other examples.

— Does the Artists Grant fund exhibitions?


Artist Grants may be used for the production of exhibitions as long as they are held in non-profit venues.

— Who can apply to the Art and Social Engagement Grant?


The Art and Social Engagement Grant are aimed at foundations, non-profit cooperatives, collectives, associations and artists from Latin America, the Caribbean and the diaspora, either by nationality and/or site where the project presented in the application will be carried out that, through the arts, contribute to generate a positive impact on society. Projects will be accepted for specific initiatives that use artistic practice to promote education, health, social inclusion and community empowerment.

— Who can apply to the Organizations Grant?


The Organizations Grant will receive applications from institutions, associations, cooperatives, non-profit organizations and foundations from Latin America, the Caribbean and the Diaspora, either by geographic location and/or whose mission is oriented to art and artists from the region. The Organizations Grants are intended to support specific projects that promote, preserve and broadcast the work of Latin American artists, such as archives, public programs, cultural exchanges, among others.

— Who can apply to the Publications Grant?


The Publications Grant is intended for non-profit artistic entities, individuals, small and medium scale publishers.

— Can a Magazine apply for a Publications Grant?


The Publications Grant is intended for publications of books, specialized magazines, artists' books and other types of physical or digital publications focused on the visual arts.

— Can I combine my Grant with other support?


Yes, all Fundación Ama Amoedo Grants can be used for projects that have other support, as long as the sponsors in question do not have interests contrary to those of the Foundation.

— How is the selection criteria?


The Jury will take into account the correlation with the objectives of the call related to each category and its contribution to artistic development. The Jury will evaluate the reasonableness of the budget and its ability to be executed within the allocated resources and deadlines. Proposals that present challenges, invite reflection and experimentation, and denote artistic rigor and commitment to practice will be sought. The selected applications will prioritize the real impact and significance that the awarding of the Grant may have on a personal level and in the surrounding community.

— How is the selection process?


The jury, made up of three external curators and a representative of Fundación Ama Amoedo, will evaluate all the proposals. They will have technical support to verify that all the applications comply with the requested requirements. In case the Jury considers it necessary, during the work process they may contact the applicants for an interview that will be conducted virtually. By unanimous decision of the Jury, the finalist proposals will be selected, and the responsible parties will be contacted privately to announce the awarding of the Grant. Unfortunately, due to the number of applications we expect to receive, it will not be possible to provide individual feedback.

— Is all information about my application confidential?


All information provided to Fundación Ama Amoedo will be kept strictly confidential.

— How are the Fundación Ama Amoedo Grants funded?


The Grants are financed exclusively by the Foundation, without receiving funds from third parties or governmental support.

— Can references listed in the application be contacted?


If deemed necessary, the Jury may contact the references listed in the application to request additional information about the applicant.

— When should I start my project and how long do I have to complete it?


The selected proposals will have a period of one year to carry out the project, starting from the date the grant is awarded. Projects selected for the Publications Grant will be exempt from this deadline and will have 2 years to complete the project.

— How are the Grants paid?


Fundación Ama Amoedo Grants will be paid by bank transfer to an account owned by the grantee, whether it is a personal account or an account of the applicant entity. They will be granted directly, indivisible and non-transferable.

— If applying as an organization, institution, association or collective, is it necessary to have notarized certification and/or a registered legal entity?


In the case of applying as an entity, whether it is a foundation, institution, association or artists' collective, it will not be an exclusive requirement to have legal and/or juridical consolidation. It will be required information that proves the professional and committed work of the entity prior to the application in this call.
