Resident Announcement in partnership with PIVÔ

Uruguayan artist Florencia Martinez Aysa was selected to participate in PIVÔ, in partnership with Fundación Ama Amoedo. The residency at São Paulo, Brazil, will take place from August 6 to November 5, 2025.
Florencia Martinez Aysa (b.1994, Florida, Uruguay) is a visual artist and visual communication professor. She received grants and awards such as the Paul Cézanne Award (2022), the Wilderness MX Grant (2024), FEFCA Víctor Haedo and the Regional Fund for Culture (both 2023, Uruguay). In 2024 she was the Jury for the Paul Cézanne Award and participated in the 61st National Visual Arts Award. She participated in several residences including Paris, Murcia, Porto Alegre and Villa Soriano. She was selected for the 59th National Visual Arts Award and the artist chosen to create the work for the National Award for Territorial Planning and Urbanism 23'. She has exhibited at the CCE, the EAC, the MAVEA and other spaces in Uruguay and abroad. She is the author of the artist book Mujer Abrojo and co-founder of the feminist collective La Truca.



Resident Announcement in partnership with ISCP

Argentine artist Ulises Mazzucca was selected to participate in ISCP, in partnership with Fundación Ama Amoedo. Ulises Mazzucca will be in residence at ISCP, New York, from May 1 to June 30, 2025.

Ulises Mazzucca (b. 1997, Santa Fe, Argentina) studied Fine Arts at the Universidad Nacional de Rosario. He participated in the Artists Program at the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella in Buenos Aires (2017), and in the Critique led by Claudia del Río and Carlos Herrera at Plataforma Lavardén, Rosario (2015). Previously, he attended the Critique led by Cintia Clara Romero and Maximiliano Peralta in Rincón, Santa Fe. Between 2018 and 2019, he was an artist-in-residence at Centro Munar, La Boca, Buenos Aires.

Fundación Ama Amoedo in partnership with PIVÔ welcomes applications from Uruguayan visual artists for a residency in São Paulo. One slot will be granted for a three-month residency at PIVÔ, São Paulo, from August to October 2025.

Fundación Ama Amoedo and Fundación Casa Wabi are pleased to announce for the second consecutive year their institutional alliance that will take place in 2024.

Through an open call, two artists will be selected to participate in a six-week residency at Casa Wabi (Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico) for two artists from Argentina (living in or outside the country).

Fundación Ama Amoedo celebrates this partnership with Casa Wabi, within the framework of its FAARA Conecta program, which aims to expand connectivity networks and stimulate production in different cultural contexts.

Resident Announcement in partnership with Delfina Foundation

Uruguayan artist Emilio Bianchi was selected to participate in Delfina Foundation in partnership with Fundación Ama Amoedo. Emilio Bianchi will be in residence at Delfina Foundation, London, from April 2 to May 12, 2024.

Emilio Bianchic (b. 1990, Uruguay) works on the limits of nature, culture and identity, playing with their impossibilities and ridiculousness in the form of small-scale videos and performances. His practice tries to hack standardized behaviors and expected results, using confusion, awkwardness and humor as a force for queering all actions. He was the recipient of the Premio Nacional de Artes Visuales (National Art Prize) of Uruguay in 2018. He currently resides between CDMX and Buenos Aires.

In partnership with Fundación Ama Amoedo, Delfina Foundation (London, UK) welcomed applications for the second consecutive year from Uruguayan artists, living in or outside the country, for a six-week residency in London.

The residency at Delfina Foundation will take place from April 2 to May 12, 2024.

Call for applications has ended: Monday, 9 October 2023 (12:00 BST / 20 hs UY).

2023

Resident Announcement in partnership with Delfina Foundation

Uruguayan artist Ana Bidart was selected to participate in Delfina Foundation, in partnership with Fundación Ama Amoedo. Ana Bidart will be in residence at Delfina Foundation, London, from May 15 to June 23, 2023.

Ana Bidart (b.1985, Montevideo, Uruguay) studied at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism at Universidad Estatal de Uruguay. Her practice explores how we perceive time through body and matter in everyday life, focusing her research on the action of drawing. Process and play have an essential role in her work, that includes painting, installations, performance, video and writing. She has collaborated with institutions such as Museo Tamayo, Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo, Museo de Arte Carrillo Gil and Museo Jumex in Mexico; and with Universidad de la República and Museo Nacional de Artes Visuales in Uruguay. Bidart lives and works between Mexico and Uruguay.

Announcing Residents in partnership with Fundación Casa Wabi

Fundación Ama Amoedo and Fundación Casa Wabi announce in partnership the artists participating in the residencies in Mexico and Uruguay: Mimi Laquidara (AR), Jorge Miño (AR), Fritzia Irizar (MX) and Alejandra Venegas (MX).

Participants Casa Wabi: Mimi Laquidara (b. 1989, Entre Ríos, Argentina) and Jorge Miño (1973, Corrientes, Argentina) will participate in a six-week residency at Casa Wabi (Puerto Escondido, Mexico) from October 20 to November 26. The selection was made by a jury composed by Fundación Casa Wabi.

Participants Fundación Ama Amoedo: Fritzia Irizar (b.1977, Culiacán, Mexico) and Alejandra Venegas (b.1986, Mexico City) will participate in a four-week residency at Casa Neptuna (José Ignacio, Uruguay) from October 18 to November 16. The selection was made by a jury composed of Martín Craciun (curator Subte, Uruguay), Paulina Ascencio Fuentes (researcher and independent curator, Mexico) and Laura Hakel (Curator of Collection and Artistic Projects, Fundación Ama Amoedo).
